Thewalt
The Thewalt Stein Company produced over 75,000 pieces annually for individuals and collectors all over the world and are for collectors, and for beer stein lovers. Handcraftsmanship and excellent quality were the Trademarks of Thewalt's success. In the fall of 2009 Thewalt stopped producing and now through an agreement with King-Werks due to their high standards, their designs will still be produced as “Thewalt 1893”.
Albert Jac Thewalt, whose father and grandfather were potters and stein makers since 1781, established Thewalt in 1893 and is one of the oldest stein brands still produced.
Thewalt steins are made from finest German clay only from the heart of the Westerwald region and are based on antique designs.
Albert J Thewalt (the grandson of Albert Jac Thewalt) announced that the Thewalt company would end it's production of beer steins in the fall of 2009. A limited quantity of “Final Edition” steins were produced to mark the end of over 117 years of stein production.
Today the Thewalt name is continued by a deal between King-Werks and Albert Thewalt in 2010. King continues to produce the Thewalt brand under the title “Thewalt 1893” since January of 2011.
